Association of Early Childhood Educators Ontario(AECEO)
The AECEO is the professional association for early childhood educators in Ontario. The mission of the AECEO is to serve and act on behalf of early childhood educators in Ontario by:
- Supporting the professional growth of early childhood educators through the provision and pro-motion of ongoing professional development, training and best practices;
- Advocating on behalf of the profession;
- Promoting and supporting quality early learning and care as an integral part of a child’s healthy development;
- Disseminating research, educational resources and topical information about early learning and care to the public, governments and other related professionals;
- Coordinating opportunities for communication and networking among early childhood educators and others interested in early childhood education and care;
- Promoting and supporting research and advancement in the field of early childhood education and care;
- Building capacity and leadership between the profession, communities and stakeholder groups to advocate for children and families;
- Making known to parents and the general public the value and importance of early childhood education and early childhood educators, and;
- Facilitating certification and supporting equivalency of early childhood educators
College of Early Childhood Educators(CECE)
The Early Childhood Educators Act, 2007, established the College of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario (CECE), the regulatory college for Early Childhood Educators (ECEs). Registration with the college is mandatory if you wish to work in a position labeled early childhood educator and/or call yourself an early childhood educator. The CECE website outlines that the Act includes:
A definition of what constitutes the practice of the profession;
A requirement for persons to be members [of the college] in order to practise the profession;
Title protection authorizing only members of the College to use the titles "early childhood educator" or "registered early childhood educator" or an abbreviation;

The primary role of the college, as defined in the Act, is to protect the public and hold the profession and those using the professional title of ‘Early Childhood Educator’ accountable. As outlined on the college website, “the College is not an educational institution or a professional association that advocates for early childhood educators. It is an organization that helps to serve and protect children and families by setting registration requirements and ethical and professional standards for registered early childhood educators (RECEs), and governing member conduct through a complaints and discipline process”.
In contrast to the College of ECEs, the Association of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario (AECEO) is the professional association for early childhood educators and has a mandate to advocate on behalf of the profession and support their work by responding to current issues on their behalf, providing ongoing resources and information about the ECEC field, and providing opportunities for professional development and collaboration. Membership with the AECEO, however, is not mandatory.

Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care(OCBCC)
The OCBCC is Ontario’s central advocacy group for a universal, affordable, high quality, public and non-profit system of early childhood education and care. Formed in 1981, the OCBCC is a member organization comprised of child care centres, national and provincial groups and individuals from all across Ontario. OCBCC members are ECEs, child care workers, parents, grandparents, centre directors and trade unionists - most importantly they are people who care about child care.
Family Supports Institute of Ontario(FSIO)
The Family Supports Institute Ontario exists to advance the well-being of families as seen through the lens of The Guiding Principles of Family Support. NAEYC's footprint is found worldwide through membership, content, and global projects. To better serve the world’s young children and their teachers, NAEYC expanded its role in early childhood development globally. Our Global Engagement department works with governments and other large-scale systems to create guidelines to support early learning, as well as to support early childhood professionals throughout the world. We also adapt NAEYC’s resources, content, and expertise to offer culturally appropriate packages that support high-quality early learning.
Childcare Resource and Research Unit(CRRU)
The Childcare Resource and Research Unit is National based organisation. The role of organisation is to provide public education, resources and consultation on Early Childhood Education and Childcare (ECEC) policy and research, foster and support research in various fields focusing on ECEC, carry out relevant research projects and publish the results. The goal of the institute is interpreting the research or policy and anticipating the need for information resources on ECE to promote communication among the people who are interested in Early Childhood Education.
Canadian Child Care Federation(CCCF)
Canadian Child Care Federation is a National organisation. The goal of the organisation is providing the best support to children through offering a variety of information related to child development and resources about early childhood curriculum practical strategies, which enhance early childhood practitioners’ skills and knowledge to support children’s learning and development.
Child Care Advocacy Association of Canada(CCAAC)
The Child Care Advocacy Association of Canada (CCAAC) is a non-profit organisation promoting publicly funded child care in Canada by advocating through public education and political action. The CCAAC’s goal is for inclusive, affordable, non-profit, quality child care in Canada. It provides leadership to social policy activists, labours and early childhood community through holding campaigns.
The Atkinson Centre for Society and Child Development is a research centre that is committed to using the best available evidence on early child development to inform public discourse, public policy and the professional learning of those who work with young children. Atkinson Centre remain committed to pursuing learning opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to strengthen their capacity to bridge research with policy and practice through quality learning experiences.
The Best Start Resource Centre(BSRC)
The Best Start Resource Centre is funded by Ontario government where affiliates different organisations to support healthy, equitable and thriving communities. The role of the organisation is providing information related to prenatal health and early childhood development which are up-to-dated on current trends information. The organisation also provides multilingual language information which can be freely downloaded. The organisation provides diverse services such as online training sessions and consultations for developing practices, curriculum ideas, and planning strategies.

Formed in 1976, the Equal Pay Coalition is comprised of dozens of trade unions, women’s and businesswomen’s groups, and community organizations seeking to end gender pay discrimination and close the gender pay gap through legislation, collective bargaining, and social initiatives.
Over the years, the Coalition has met with a succession of Ontario governments calling for action on many fronts to bring economic equality to women in all their diverse circumstances. These include strong enforcement of the Pay Equity Act, access to affordable child care, increases to the minimum wage, and reinstatement of Ontario’s Employment Equity Act.

Ontario Aboriginal Head Starts Association (OAHSA)
OAHSA is collectively united, with respect to our traditional teachings, to inspire, promote and support life-long learning and empowerment of our Aboriginal Head Start in urban and northern communities.

The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Early Learning and Child Care Program is pleased to offer the College of Early Childhood Educators Membership and Renewal Reimbursement Program. Through this Program all Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECE) can apply to the Métis Nation of Ontario to have their College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE) membership and renewal fees covered by the MNO.
